Join a demo outside animal circus in Tonbridge and Worthing
Yes it's true, there are still circuses in the UK exploiting animals!
The 'Great British Circus' has Lions, Tigers, Horses, Ponies, Llamas, Reindeer, Camels and Zebras. It will be at Tonbridge this weekend and near Worthing next weekend, until 15th June. You can join the demo to help discourage people supporting this.
Although this circus claims the highest animal care, how can they get away with treating naturally wild animals as a source of entertainment? Their living conditions are a world apart from their natural habitat and they are constantly confined in captivity and carted around the country. They have no element of choice.
Tonbridge, Kent
The circus is at Tonbridge in Kent now and this weekend: from Wed 4th to Sun 8th June at the Boot Fair Site, London Rd, Southborough A21/A26 TN4 0UQ. As the show starts at 2pm you would need to be there for 12.30 on Saturday 7th June, and on Sunday the show is at 3pm so will need to be there at 1.30pm.
Worthing, Sussex
The circus is coming to Dial Post near Worthing next Weds 11th June until Sun 15th June 2008. It'll be at the West Sussex Showground, Worthing Rd A24, Dial Post, RH13 8NR (Next to Old Barn Nurseries). Showtimes are 5pm & 7.30pm. Volunteers are requested to demo whenever they can.
People able to do the later show will ideally need to be there by 6.15pm to start the demo before the show starts.
Joining in
As with any demonstration it is important to remain peaceful, calm, polite and informative to get your message across. Please check with Maz/Veggies for the appropriate place to stand. Banners tend to help, especially if you need to stand out by the road.
Please be aware that we have heard reports that the ringmaster of this circus has been abusive in the past. This only would look bad for him, especially against your calm.
If you can, please contact Veggies Show email address. or Maz Show email address. in advance as with a demo it is always nice to know you have support coming.
