Vegan Campaigns Food Fair December 2005

The morning & lunchtime of the Vegan Society AGM it is a great time for active vegans to get together. This year for the first time we're getting active to celebrate National Vegan Week, so we can really get down to doing something together.

Free Food Fair on the morning of 28th October 2006

Vegan Campaigns is setting off National Vegan Week with one of their fabulous and efficiently run free food fairs. This is a great chance to support them, learn the tricks of the trade and work together as Contacts. It's near Goodge St tube, so not far at all from the AGM. We can help out from 9:30am onwards, and we'll have a quick break in a special area there to get to know eachother at 11:30am. Sophie the contacts coordinator will be there from about 10:30am.

Please tell Caroline as soon as possible if you might be coming along (scroll down for contact details for Caroline the organiser), and do tell Sophie Show email address. too. Ask Caroline for the exact address.

What we can do there

Just choose what suits you and please say as soon as possible if might bring food:

  • Bring vegan food to be given away at the fair - anything you like that is reasonably easy to serve in small portions - say now what you plan to bring (for ideas see box below).
  • Help set up everything and present the food
  • Help prepare and present the food (bring a hair tie if you have long hair)
  • Distribute flyers about the event out on the street
  • Just ask what needs doing on the day

Food & recipe ideas - from Caroline of Vegan Campaigns

We mainly need help with cooking scones, veggie pasties, soups, stews and nut roast. However, we are open to other vegan suggestions too! Suggestions of popular food are on the a guide to free vegan food stalls and fairs. Ideally, we would like to have a recipe (or if not, ingredients) for what you are cooking, as we plan to label the food and hand out a recipe booklet on the day. We hope to pull the recipe book together at the end of September. A significant part of the popularity of such events is to be able to taste things and then go home and make them yourself - punters love the recipes.

However, please don't worry if you want to cook, but don't think you will be sure what you are cooking in advance, as we can always make labels up on the morning of the fayre, and it won't be the end of the world if we don't have recipes (the yummy food is more important!). If your recipes don't end up being what you make, they'll still be useful!

Vegan Campaigns are willing to cover expenses for ingredients if you bring a receipt, alternatively you may wish just to bring food as part of your donation to this highly effective veganising event.

Get in touch if there's a chance you might join us - it helps to know who might be coming. Working together on veganising is really invigorating fun - try it!

Lunch together at Conway Hall

We can all travel to the Vegan Society AGM venue together to get back to meet up with others for a well earned lunch together from 1pm.
